Why don’t you have a promo in my genre?
We are currently doing 11 genre mashups a year. Initially, we chose 10 genres to work with that we felt would encapsulate the majority of genre fiction. However, we recognize that there are other genres we missed and some genres that are already cross-genre categories. For example: women’s lit, dystopian/post apoch, lgbtq, and some others are valid categories; but they all also fit under extant genres most of the time. Meanwhile, the general fiction category also has sub-genres we don’t currently have features for; such as coming of age and slice-of-life.
So we ask that if you write in a category such as women’s lit, ask yourself if your title can also fit under one of the other genres we are featuring. And if you write in a genre we absolutely haven’t yet featured, drop us a note, and let us know you’re interested in seeing your genre featured.
Will you be adding genres soon?
Currently, we are brand new and focusing on the categories we have, but if we get enough interested response from authors or readers wanting to see another category featured, we’ll absolutely add more promos to the menu.
Even erotica?
Doubtful.
Poetry?
Sure, if it fits one of our genres.
Will you be adding any non-fiction sub-genres?
Currently we have no plans to branch into non-fiction. Sorry. But things can change. Again, if there’s enough interest…
I have a story in an anthology. Can I submit the book?
Only the person or organization listed on the cover as editor, co-editor, or curator can submit an anthology title featuring numerous authors.
Can I submit a short story/novelette?
As noted on the sign up forms, you can submit a novel, a novella, a collection of flash fiction or short stories at least three stories in length or an anthology provided you are listed as editor or curator. Anything more brief is too short. Assume a rule-of-thumb length of at least 15,000 words.
I write under a pen name. Is that a problem?
So long as you submit under your legal name and email address, it’s not a problem. We won’t use your actual name on the site.
Why don’t box-sets have to be 99c/99p?
Since box-sets are more than one novel, we allow those ebooks to run for as much as 1.99 From there, we expect readers to make their own judgement as to whether they want to purchase the file. Box sets will be placed under their own heading with the fact that they may cost as much as 1.99 clearly indicated, so readers will not be surprised by the higher price.
What about graphic novels?
If your graphic novel fits one of our categories and you have the rights to the art and story, you can put it in our sales. And since Amazon probably won't let you price it under $1.99 due to the file size, you may price it at that point.
What if my book is perma-free?
Free books cannot be discounted, so unfortunately they are not eligible.
Will you be running any promos for free books?
We have no plans to run any promos for free books.
What if my book is in Amazon Select?
So long as you can discount your book on the dates of the promo, that shouldn't be a problem.
